This full-year course, designed for the 8th Grade level, focuses on developing an overarching, systematic understanding of the Greco-Roman World, particularly as it related to and impacted God’s people in the close of Old Testament times and into the New Testament era. Students will not only master the overarching narrative of pagan Greek and Roman history, but learn to integrate the major events of with God’s providential founding of the church.
In keeping with my “multum, non multa” (“much, not many”) approach, students will read and interact with selections from Greco-Roman and Greek-influenced Jewish literature, as well as supplementary materials on their historical contexts. Our online sessions will aim to create and deepen the students’ depth of inquiry into these cultures, and prepare them for moving into more in-depth studies of actual classical and Christian literature in High School.
This course provides credits for History, Literature, and Bible / Theology / Religion.
