Old Testament World

This full-year course, designed for the 7th Grade level, focuses on developing an overarching, systematic understanding of the Ancient World in which the Jews in Old Testament times lived.  Students will not only master the overarching narrative of pagan history, but learn to integrate the major events of Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, and Persia with God’s dealings with Israel.

In keeping with my “multum, non multa” (“much, not many”) approach, students will read and interact with selections from Ancient literature and supplementary materials on their historical contexts.  Our online sessions will aim to create and deepen the students’ depth of inquiry into these cultures, and prepare them for moving into the New Testament World course in 8th Grade.

This course provides credits for History, Literature, and Bible / Theology / Religion. A sample of what the course will look like is shown here:
