Welcome to Via Antiqua online classical tutoring! I am the instructor, Timothy Enloe, and you may read about me on this page.
I have designed this program to cater to Christian homeschool students in search of a quality and affordable online academic experience in the classical Christian mode. (See individual course pages for fees, which, as a special introductory offer, are generally 20% or slightly more off the going rates.)
A hallmark of my program, which differentiates it from most other similar programs, is that I follow the ancient classical maxim “multum non multa” – translated as “much, not many.”
Unlike other programs that aim for very broad exposure with large amounts of work in only a few short years, my program focuses on going in-depth (much) on a reasonably small selection of critical material (not many).
One of my goals, learned from my experience in Christian schools, is to help students balance academics with other enriching aspects of life. Book-learning is essential, but it is not everything. Moreover, “hard” work is not necessarily the same thing as “lots of” work. This approach inculcates create depth while avoiding spreading students thin, and so aims to better prepare them for the life-long pursuit of virtue and wisdom.
The courses I offer are divided into four categories:
- Middle School: 7th-8th Grade
- High School: 9th-12th Grade
- Summer “Primer”: various grade levels, designed to cover introductory material or other preparatory skills
- Enrichment: continuing education for high schoolers and adults on an informal, seminar-based level
